Brief Discriptions

As Mother’s Day was approaching, the school organized a week-long filial piety activity to help children understand the traditional Chinese virtue of honoring and appreciating their parents.

Before the activity began, parents were invited to send photos of their children with mothers to the school, which then printed them out for preparing gifts for their mothers.

At the beginning of the week, teachers introduced the significance of Mother’s Day and invited children to share how their mothers care for them in daily life—fostering awareness and gratitude for maternal love and sacrifice.

Later, teachers and children read the story “Cai Shun Gathering Mulberries” from the Twenty-four Exemplars of Filial Piety, where Cai Shun carefully chooses the best berries for his mother to thank her for her loving care. Together, the class discussed ways to show appreciation to their mothers, and the teacher taught them how to handcraft a special gift: a dried flower photo frame.

On the eve of Mother’s Day, children proudly presented the handmade photo frames and fresh flowers prepared by the school to their mothers at dismissal. Parents were also invited to photograph these heartfelt moments or celebrations at home, so the children could share their experiences with classmates back at school.
