Brief Descriptions

This birthday party is themed around the Lunar New Year and aims to help children gain a deeper understanding of traditional celebrations, various customs, and traditional snacks of the Chinese Lunar New Year. Teachers and children return to school dressed in festive Chinese attire. The school is decorated with Fai Chun couplets on the main entrance pillars, festive hanging decorations in outdoor areas, and New Year embellishments in both the lobby and classrooms to create a vibrant holiday atmosphere.

Activities on the day include:

  • “Dragon and Lion Dance”
  • “Making Dumplings”
  • “Writing Spring Couplets”
  • “Firecracker Game”

These hands-on experiences help foster children's interest and understanding of Lunar New Year traditions. For lunch, a special festive vegetarian Poon Choi was served, aligning with the theme.

During the “Writing Spring Couplets” activity, children were highly engaged. They began by writing celebratory phrases on red paper, then decorated the paper with shiny crafts using colorful foil to create dazzling Spring Festival designs. In the “Making Dumplings” session, teachers guided children to take a dumpling wrapper, fill it with a mix of cabbage and pork, and fold it to make dumplings.

Through these activities, children could fully immerse in the Lunar New Year atmosphere and better appreciate the culture. They were especially captivated by the festive decorations in the lobby.
